BIOLOGICAL RESOURCES
Needles Two Substation - California
EPG was contracted by Western Area Power Administration to provide biological monitoring during the construction of the Needles Two Substation on the Aha Macav Reservation near Needles, California. EPG coordinated with the Aha Macav Tribe to obtain the required permits to survey and monitor for desert tortoise within the Reservation. EPG biologists conducted clearance surveys of the site and monitored for desert tortoise until tortoise-proof fencing was installed. EPG biologists provided assistance ensuring the fence was appropriately installed to prevent desert tortoise from accessing the area. Additional monitoring was required during installation of transmission poles outside the fenced area. EPG provided environmental compliance training for all personnel on site during the Project.
