Environmental Planning Group (EPG) is seeking to fill positions for Supervisory Field Archaeologists, Archaeological Field Technicians, and Archaeological Monitors to participate in a large testing and data recovery project in southern Oregon. Lodging and per diem will be provided, and compensation will be commensurate with responsibilities and experience. All personnel engaged in this fieldwork must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for archaeology. Senior Archaeologist/Field Director
As a Senior Archaeologist/Field Director for EPG, you will have the following responsibilities:

Ensure timely and proper recovery of data by field crews, including, but not limited to, archaeological survey and excavation
- Supervise archaeological crews and crew chiefs
- Be responsible for and maintain field equipment
- Follow EPG and Client guidelines on safety and conduct
- Assist in writing portions of the report of investigations
- Complete other tasks as directed
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field
- At least two years of supervisory-level experience in CRM
- At least one year of field experience in prehistoric archaeology
- Ability to be listed in supervisory capacity on federal and state cultural resource permits
- Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion
In addition to these minimum qualifications, the successful candidate will preferably have demonstrated experience in field mapping with a total station or similar electronic mapping devices.
Supervisory Field Archaeologist
As a Supervisory Archaeologist for EPG, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Aid in all types of data gathering, including, but not limited to, archaeological survey and excavation.
- Ability to be listed on federal and state cultural resource permits;
- Supervise archaeological crews as directed
- Be responsible for and maintain field equipment
- Follow EPG and Client guidelines on safety and conduct
- Assist in writing portions of the report of investigations
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field; OR
- Undergraduate degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field AND at least one year of supervisory-level experience in CRM;
- At least one year of field experience in prehistoric archaeology;
- Ability to be listed on federal and state cultural resource permits;
- Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion

Archaeological Field Technicians
As an Archaeological Field Technician for EPG, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Archaeological Survey (identification of isolated occurrences, features, and sites).
- Archaeological Excavation (Testing and Data Recovery).
- Recording newly identified sites (use of digital camera, GPS equipment, filling out paperwork, etc.).
- Rerecording previously identified sites (relocating boundaries of sites, use of digital camera, GPS equipment, filling out paperwork, etc.).
- Review and analysis of maps
- Complete other tasks as directed
Qualifications:
- Coursework in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field
- Specialized training in archaeological field techniques (e.g., a field school or certification program).
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing for purposes of working with others
Archaeological Monitors
As a Field Monitor for EPG, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Monitor construction activities;
- Identify artifacts and other cultural items in the field;
- Maintain log of monitoring activities; and
- Communicate monitoring activities with supervisors and project directors.
Qualifications:
- Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field
- Specialized training in archaeological field techniques (e.g., a field school or certification program).
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing for purposes of working with others
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in order to protect the integrity of cultural resources, policies, and practices
- Knowledge of federal, state, cultural, and tribal resource management activities, laws, policies, and practices
In addition to these minimum qualifications, successful candidates will preferably have experience in archaeological field monitoring, and familiarity with Native American culture/history.
