Senior Biologist

EPG, Inc. is an interdisciplinary environmental planning consulting firm seeking motivated senior–level Biologists for our Las Vegas, Nevada and Phoenix, Arizona offices. Our work focuses on the energy and utilities industries, particularly large multi-state transmission lines and wind energy development. Primary duties will include the preparation of NEPA documents (Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements) and Biological Assessments, feasibility studies, habitat assessments, and field surveys. The position will also require interaction with state and federal agencies, mentoring junior staff, and leading field crews.

Ideal candidates will possess a Masters degree in biology, wildlife biology, zoology, ecology, botany, or range science, a minimum of three (3) years of consulting/agency experience in the Southwest, and substantial experience with NEPA and the Endangered Species Act. Familiarity with flora and fauna of the Southwest, experience working with state wildlife agencies and federal land management agencies, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Section 404 permitting and Section 7 consultation experience is desired. Specialization in wetlands, botany, or ornithology is a plus. Salary is negotiable based on experience.

Environmental Planners:

EPG seeks senior-level (8+ years), mid-level (4-8 years), and entry-level (0-3 years) environmental planners for environmental planning and NEPA compliance projects in our Phoenix office. A bachelor's or master's degree in Landscape Architecture (preferred), Planning, Geography, or related field is required for environmental planner applicants. Previous experience with federal agencies, visual resource studies and analysis and NEPA are preferred, along with good graphic skills, AutoCAD, and Photoshop experience. Salary is negotiable based on relevant experience.

GIS Analyst:

EPG seeks an entry level GIS Analyst for environmental planning and NEPA compliance projects in our Phoenix office. A bachelor's or master's degree in Geography, Landscape Architecture, Planning, or related field with a specialization or focus in GIS is required. Previous experience with ArcInfo and/or ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Visual Basic, Trimble GPS, and MS Access is required. Additional skills should include excellent oral and written communication with ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical staff/management; strong general computer skills; Windows OS and Microsoft software products; and knowledge of relational database systems. Candidate should be a self-starter with the desire and ability to take the lead on a task and possess the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Paleontologists:

EPG seeks motivated entry-level (0-3 years), mid-level (4-8 years), and senior-level (8+ years) Paleontologists for projects involving Paleontological Resource Management in our Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Boise, and Cheyenne offices. Primary duties include field studies and surveys, assessments, mitigation, preparation of technical reports in support of NEPA documents, and coordination with State and Federal agencies. Successful candidates will have documented experience supervising field crews for survey, testing, monitoring, and data recovery projects, and experience in coordinating project logistics. Candidates should also have completed several self-authored reports and be able to be permitted by state and federal agencies. An attention to detail and quality control is necessary, as well as the ability to contribute to the creation of research design and data recovery plans. A bachelor's or master's degree in Geology or Paleontology is required. Paleontological field experience in vertebrate paleontology is preferred. Ability to measure stratigraphic sections and describe rocks is required. Applicants must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as proficiency in computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.). Previous experience with federal and state agencies is preferred. Salary is based on relevant experience.
