Amargosa Farm Road Solar Energy Project – Nevada

In July 2009, EPG was selected as the third-party Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Contractor for the Amargosa Farm Road Solar Energy Project in Nye County, Nevada. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) prepared the EIS in response to Solar Millennium’s right-of-way request to construct two 250-megawatt, dry-cooled, concentrated solar power plants equipped with thermal storage capabilities and ancillary facilities. Instead of the typical 24 to 36 month EIS schedule, EPG staff worked closely with Solar Millennium, the BLM, and cooperating agencies to successfully complete the preparation, review, and distribution of the Final EIS in 15 months. The Record of Decision was signed by Secretary of the Interior Salazar on November 15, 2010. This project is the first concentrated solar power project and only the second solar power project to be approved for public lands within the State of Nevada.
