Gila Bend Solar Project – Arizona

The Gila Bend Solar Project is a 150 MW solar power generating facility proposed on retired agricultural lands in western Maricopa County, Arizona.  EPG is assisting NextEra (Applicant) with local and state permitting efforts for the project, which includes a Comprehensive Master Plan Amendment and Special Use Permit from Maricopa County and an Aquifer Protection Permit from Arizona Department of Water Resources.  EPG will also assist NextEra obtain a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) designating approval of the Arizona Corporation Commission to construct the power plant and associated electric transmission line.  Interesting aspects of the project include a detailed biological survey for Burrowing Owls, extensive public outreach activities, and a challenging water resource investigation.
