Wildhorse Pass Resort

The Wildhorse Pass Resort Hotel is located on the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) where the ancient vistas and mountains remain untouched. The river design became a significant feature within the overall setting of the resort. The river defined the outdoor spaces and gathering areas for scenic outdoor venues and educational opportunities. The resort grounds were designed with break-out spaces which incorporate exhibit areas for the GRIC to display their intricate basket designs. These areas also serve as demonstration gardens that identify the plant communities that were used for basket weaving, ceremonial, and medicinal purposes. Additionally, the river is used for shuttling guests from the resort to the Whirlwind Golf Club and nearby Wildhorse Pass Casino. Great care was taken in coordinating the design with the GRIC cultural staff, tribal council, and design consultants throughout each phase of the project to assure that the theme and design met the GRIC expectations.
