Streetscape

Center Drive – City of Scottsdale, Arizona

EPG was retained by the City of Scottsdale to prepare environmental clearance studies and landscape design for the Center Drive improvement project located in north Scottsdale, Arizona. The streetscape project will extend about a mile from 74th Street to Hayden Road and will establish Center Drive as a pedestrian-friendly corridor providing east/west access to future development along the roadway. The development plans include a mixture of retail, service, hotel, and residential land uses.

The environmental reports were prepared according to ADOT, Environmental Determination Completion Guidelines and Format for Local Government Projects, and FHWA guidelines for a Categorical Exclusion. EPG conducted a native plant inventory, biological resources review, and a cultural resource survey and report that included a 64-acre study area for the proposed project. EPG also conducted a review of jurisdictional washes in the project area and prepared maps and documentation in support of a Section 404 permit from the Army Corps of Engineers. Additionally, EPG conducted surveys for the Cactus Ferruginous Pygmy owl and noxious weed surveys.

The landscape architectural design services performed by EPG included sections, elevations, and schematic landscape plans of the proposed streetscape design for city design board review. EPG also prepared a native plant salvage plan, water-use requirement calculations, and final landscape design and irrigation plans.
