Moapa-Paiute Generating Station
The Moapa Band of Paitue Indians, in cooperation with the Calpine Corporation, proposed to build a 760-megawatt generating station to deliver power and provide economic development for the Tribe. The project was located on the Moapa Indian Reservation in Clark County, Nevada. The site was located approximately 35 miles northeast of the City of North Las Vegas.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), prepared an environmental impact statement (EIS). EPG was retained to assist the BIA in the review of the EIS and the environmental documentation associated with the preparation of the EIS. A comprehensive environmental review for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as well as specific technical reviews for biology, air quality, visual, and water resources were performed.
