Energy Gateway South
EPG was retained by PacifiCorp (Rocky Mountain Power) as a third-party contractor to assist the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in the environmental studies and analysis needed for preparing an environmental impact statement (EIS) for the Energy Gateway South Transmission project. The project is a proposed 500kV transmission line from Carbon County in south-central Wyoming to Juab County in central Utah, a distance of approximately 400 miles. The transmission line would potentially traverse federal (administered mostly by the BLM), state (including 17 counties), and private lands.
EPG completed a feasibility study in 2008 for the project to identify alternative routes, more than 2,000 miles, to be studied in detail and documented in the EIS. The project also includes assisting the BLM in consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under Section 7 or the Endangered Species Act, consultation with the three State Historic Preservation Officers under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, and developing and implementing a comprehensive public involvement program.
