The design team of Landscape Architects designed the landscape and open space “thematic” amenities for a 250-acre mixed-use residential and commercial development in the City of Goodyear. This master planned community was designed to include a 6-acre “central” village green that will encompass a community center and pool facility. In addition, the overall open space system of pedestrian active areas, trails and park corridors connect neighborhoods and blend with the traditional and timeless styles of architecture throughout the community. During this design process, the Cleland Group developed the hardscape vernacular from the stone veneer, stucco finishes, seating grottos, entry and wayfinding monumentation, accent paving, and the overall color palette. The streetscape and pedestrian corridor planting are designed with large shade trees to create shaded gathering areas and pedestrian links to other neighborhoods and commercial centers. The planting design utilizes lower water-use trees and plants throughout the development and turf on the interior active open space areas.
