Western Arizona Solar Project
In Maricopa County, Arizona, approval is being sought to construct and operate an electrical generating facility with a nominal capacity of 375 megawatts (MW), using concentrated solar thermal power. The approximately 4,000 acres of land needed to develop the project, including related facilities, consists of public land administered by the BLM. An application to the BLM requesting a right-of-way to construct the project and related facilities has been submitted by the project applicant. EPG has prepared an Environmental Critical Issues Analysis for the project to identify potential biological, cultural, land use, mineral, visual, and water resource issues associated with developing this solar resource area. In addition, EPG has assisted the applicant with the preparation of a Plan of Development (POD) and additional data requirements associated with the POD, which have been submitted to the BLM. EPG will assist the applicant with various permitting processes, as well as complete technical studies associated with the preparation of a Draft and Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). EPG also will serve as lead to assist the applicant in the process of obtaining a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility designating approval of the Arizona Corporation Commission to construct the power plant and associated electric transmission line and related facilities.
